Interview Spirit of Shankly.

http://jackysantucci.e-monsite.com/blog/interview/aaas.html

Interview...

Enough is Enough? More Please!

The recent news on ticketing is a fantastic result of all the hard work that has been put in by supporters of all clubs. We will be contacting LFC, following our meeting with them earlier this year on ticket prices, to ask what they plan and if they too will enter into agreements like those announced at Newcastle and Manchester City.

Un sondage sur le prix des billets :

As we move into the second half of the season the Club will be considering their approach to ticket prices for next season.

We are keen to make sure that there is proper consultation with supporters PRIOR to any decision and any consultation is transparent and not limited to a small group of people.

In order to put the supporters’ case across to the Club we believe that a survey of current concerns, attitudes and views is appropriate.

Please take the time to answer the following questions and pass the survey on to other supporters.

Dear Member,

On Sunday we contacted both Arsenal and Liverpool asking them to think of the Fans, not the £s, when deciding on the ticket price for the FA Cup Match between the two teams. Read the letter we sent here:

http://www.spiritofshankly.com/news/think-of-the-fans-not-the-s

We are also conducting a survey on home ticket prices and related questions. It is important that we receive as many responses as possible and would appreciate members to fill in the survey and share it with their friends and on social media. Details of the survey can be found here:

Last year on the 19th June we organised a protest marching on the Premier League Headquarters calling for cheaper tickets. Following on from this the Football Supporters' Federation will be holding a similar protest next month on August 14th. Supporters from across the country will again march on the Premier League and Football League Headquarters calling for 'Affordable Football for All'.

The March starts at Marble Arch at 1pm on Thursday 14th August and Spirit of Shankly will be running a coach from Liverpool to enable supporters to attend the protest. The coach costs £15. Further details including how to book can be found here:

Earlier this momth, representatives from Spirit Of Shankly, Spion Kop 1906 and the Supporters Committee met with officials from the club in the first of a series of meetings following the creation of the Ticketing Working Group.

This group, we will be discussing the affordability of tickets, along with access to tickets for supporters, including youngsters, and other related topics. We will keep supporters updated on the progress of this as and when it is possible.

As part of this process, we plan to hold a number of public meetings to have dialogue with supporters on the issues that are being discussed to ensure that all views are heard and that these can then help form the ideas and solutions to be discussed.

The first of these meetings will take place tomorrow, Saturday 24th January, prior to the FA Cup game against Bolton, at The SandonDoors will be open from 1:45pm, for a 2:15pm start. The meeting will finish no later than 4:00pm.  Please come along and voice your opinions on what is an important issue for all supporters.

Dear Supporter,

Liverpool FC are playing away to Hull City at the KC Stadium on Tuesday 28th April. Match tickets are priced at £50. £2 will be knocked off per ticket by way of a subsidy from Liverpool FC and this is to be taken from the £200,000 Premier League away fans initiative. That makes it £48 a ticket. Last season, tickets for this fixture were £35.

Stoke City played Hull City at the KC Stadium in August of this season. Their tickets were £16.

Everton FC played Hull City at the KC Stadium in December of this season. Their tickets were £35.

The mark up for Liverpool FC fans compared to Stoke City is 200%. The mark up compared to Everton FC is just over 31%.

That's double the cost for Evertonians compared to Stoke City and then treble the cost for Liverpool FC fans. Remember here, we're watching the same opposition, from the same seats, from the same stand, with the same facilities in the same league.

Read that again - £48 for a Liverpool FC fan and £16 for a Stoke City fan. A 200% mark up. This is unacceptable.

With support of the Spion Kop 1906 group, the Spirit of Shankly Management Committee have decided that we will not be attending this match. Instead, we will hold a demonstration at Anfield to voice our displeasure at the disgraceful pricing of Premier League tickets.

In solidarity, many of the regular independent coaches that are organised and travel from Liverpool will also not be travelling to this fixture. Fans can simply not afford to attend every game at the prices that are currently set.

We would encourage fans to join us on that night to tell the money men of the Premier League cartel that they cannot continue to charge exorbitant prices, whilst making obscene amounts of money. This wealth should be shared and passed back to the lifeblood of the game, the supporters.

For our members in London, a separate demonstration will be held outside the Premier League Head Quarters.

We are aware there are many fans who would wish to simply stop attending games until prices reduce, however we are also only too aware that these fans fear of losing out on attendance credits.

We also acknowledge that if people simply refuse to buy a ticket, they will end up in the hands of the modern day football tourists that the clubs are so eager to attract.

With this in mind, we will personally be purchasing a £10 ticket in order to maintain our credits and not go. We would urge those who support this initiative to do the same and join us at Anfield.

After the demo, we will head to a local pub to watch the match together. More details will follow on this.

This is our chance to show that the power is still with the fans. If we stop going, the game will eventually die. Take this chance to send a warning to the people that run the game, we will no longer accept these prices when there is more money in the sport than ever before.

We demand the redistribution of wealth. Join us from 7.00 pm at the Anfield and let the powers that be know Liverpool football fans are at the front in the fight for affordable football for all.

Enough is Enough

Renew your Spirit Of Shankly membership

The socialism I believe in is everyone working for each other, everyone having a share of                                     the rewards. It's the way I see football, the way I see life. Bill Shankly

Dear

First of all we would like to thank you for your past commitment to Liverpool FC’s officially recognised supporter’s trust. We’d like to stress how much we appreciate your loyalty and support for Spirit of Shankly. Without you, we would not have been able to make the impact we’ve made. We’re proud to tell you what your membership has helped us to achieve:
  • Our ongoing ticket price campaigns with the Barclays Premier League and the club itself work towards addressing the rising cost of attending matches. Under our continued pressure Liverpool FC has announced a freeze in adult and a reduction of junior season ticket prices. Football is nothing without fans, and we’re still striving to make it even more affordable for you.
  • We have been able to offer more affordable travel to away matches by subsidising coach travel. We’ve offered the cheapest travel out of any coach provider - we’re not here to make a profit.
  • We have been able to represent fans when they’ve needed our help, from issues with recovering season tickets, to stewarding at matches and unjust arrests.

We’ve noticed your membership is up for renewal, and would like to stress how important your commitment is to the trust. Having shown what we have accomplished over the last year, our future plans can help make more of an impact with you on board.

So what do you get with your £10 membership?
  • The entitlement to vote on the issues affecting members; giving you the chance to have your say on the most important issues we need to address
  • The opportunity to volunteer in campaigns and be an integral part of the SoS team
  • Representation in regard to any issues encountered
  • Access to reduced travel to away games

We will have more power in our meetings with the club and the media if we can quote the number of members on board with us. So please consider renewing your membership as it will not only give you access to the benefits we offer but make our team stronger.

Please get in touch if you have any questions and thank you again for your support,

Jay McKenna
