Lettre de Brendan au peuple des Swans :

"This is a letter I'd hoped I would not have to write for a long time, and only ever in the event of a unique opportunity.

"The chance to manage one of the world's great footballing institutions doesn't come around very often in a manager's life and, after two approaches, I have decided to take up the professional challenge.

"Before doing so I wanted to leave you my wholehearted thanks and gratitude for a truly memorable period of my life.

"My story at Swansea City began nearly two years ago and my mission above anything else was very clear: to inspire the city.

"My aim for a legacy was simply to have made Swansea City Football Club an attacking and creative team who were enjoyable to watch, and to make the people of Swansea proud of their great club, city and nation.

"In the years ahead, you, the most important people at the club, will decide if I achieved those dreams, but the journey for me has been one I will never forget.

"We created history together to become the first Welsh club in the Premier League, and defied all the odds at the same time, and there is no doubt the club will continue to flourish in the coming years.

"I have made many friends and I want to thank them all for the support my family and I have received. I want to thank the board of Swansea City for their belief and support and in particular the chairman, Huw Jenkins.

"Our working and personal relationship has become strong over the last two years and I'm sad to be leaving such a good man and friend, but I'm also happy knowing that the future of Swansea City couldn't be in better hands.

"The Supporters' Trust have really opened my eyes to how a successful club can function and I have no doubts your great work will be replicated throughout football in the coming years.

"On behalf of my wife and daughter, I want to say a special thank you to the teachers and pupils at St Michael's School in Llanelli for everything they have done to make her time at school so enjoyable and rewarding.

"I want to thank the media in Wales for the respectful way they have gone about their job and in particular to the South Wales Evening Post, who have been sensitive to the personal issues I have had in my social life.

"The players at Swansea I will thank individually, but to them I hope I have helped you become better players and people because you have certainly done that for me.

"And, finally, to the Jack Army. I'm proud to have been your manager and feel truly blessed for the support you have given me on and off the field.

"Your passion both at home and away made me very proud on the touchline.

"I leave knowing I couldn't have given any more to help your great club succeed.

"The next manager will come in and look to keep the club moving forward and your support for him will be as important as it was for me to ensure continued success.

"Swansea will live in my heart for the rest of my life and one day I would love to return to this great club and city.

"Until that day comes, I wish everyone at Swansea lots of success in the next chapter of your amazing story."

Pour l'instant, ce ne sont que des mots. Cela n'engage à rien. Mais niveau com c'est du 20 sur 20 en notant vache. Du niveau de Shankly ou Dalglish.

Rodgers est clairement un important communicant, ce qui a (malheureusement?) une grande importance dans le football actuel. La gestion de l'affaire Suarez-Evra par KK l'a démontré.

Il a aussi montré de vraies qualités dans le jeu, ce qui est toujours difficile dans des équipes de bas de tableau où la tentation est grande de s'en remettre au Kick n' Rush.

Maintenant la vraie interrogation concerne sa capacité à gérer le niveau supérieur, à manager des joueurs au caractère bien trempé et à résister à le pression.

Parce que ses belles déclarations ne peseront pas lourd au moment des derbies.

J'adhere completement pour l'instant pourvu que ce ne soit pas que du vent mais il a l'air d'avoir un charisme monstre et une forte personnalité. J'espere que les resultats seront a son image. Courage and good luck! YNWA!

Il y a la com avec les mots, mais 80% de l'attention est portée visuellement au message projeté par le corps. En body language aussi, Rodgers est impressionnant.

Un manager dégage une aura, ou pas. Brendan Rodgers a l'air de ne pas pas passer inaperçu, goût Shankly. Toutefois, Shankly avait été suivi par Paisley, humble et affable. Et sans en rajouter il n'a pas trop mal réussi.

Je pense vraiment pas qu'il jouera beaucoup, Carra et txiki taka voilà quoi . Mon avis et mon préssentiment c'est l'éclosion de Coates. Avec tous les matchs d'europa il faudra préserver Agger un max.

Je pense qu'en défense, celui qui aura le plus de responsabilités sera, ou devrait être, Agger. Tout simplement parce que si Rogers veut mettre en place un système basé sur la possession de balle, il aura besoin de défenseurs avec une bonne qualité de relance, et Agger est l'un des défenseurs les plus techniques d'Europe.

Donc, s'il réussi à faire une saison sans trop se casser, il pourrait être l'un des hommes de base de Rogers.

Et c'est en décembre qu'il faudra être le plus attentif. Comme je l'ai expliqué sur un autre sujet, ça paraît "calme" (le mois de décembre) mais n'oubliez pas que sous Kenny nous avons perdu la qualification en CL dans un mois de décembre abordable puis complétement dans une fin de calendrier facile. Ces matchs seront aussi importants et révélateurs que les gros par lesquels nous commencons. J'espère simplement enfin de la régularité que nous n'avons plus depuis 2008-2009.

Rodgers veut gagner avec style, mais insiste sur le fait qu'il n'a pas a imposé sa philosophie de jeu au club, puisque que pour lui, sa philosophie est finalement en tout point semblable au "Liverpool way" de Liverpool.

Propos qui ne nous apporte pas forcément d'éléments nouveaux sur ce qu'on sait déjà mais il peut toujours se glisser une phrase potentiellement "shanklyeste" dans ses déclarations.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants a return to the old pass and move style that was synonymous with the club during their halcyon days.

Rodgers is an avid student of the game and the style and philosophy of his Swansea team last term saw them dubbed "the Barcelona of the Premier League".

Many observers believe he will take that same style to Anfield, however, the former Watford manager insists Liverpool do not need to emulate any club's style, because they already have their own unique brand of play.

"The way I want to play here is the Liverpool way," he told the club's official website.

Tiki-Taka

"The history and tradition of this club has been about offensive football, attacking football - but always with discipline.

"The game will be based around what Liverpool are about, which is control, dominating games with the ball, working very hard when you haven't got the ball, and keeping the game as simple as possible.

"Of course I'll bring in a certain philosophy which I'm attached to, but the principles of your game are based around the players.

"I suppose the Tiki-Taka football has come from Barcelona and that Spanish version. It probably came up with the players at Swansea, who referred to it a lot in our training and our work on having the ball and resting on the ball."

Winning

Resting on the ball is a phrase the Northern Irishman has coined which means working as hard as you can to recover possession and only resting once you have it.

Yet, Rodgers knows that what Liverpool fans ultimately want to see is winning football, and he is determined to bring that.

"It doesn't matter if it's Tiki-Taka football or possession football - the supporters and all of us want winning football. That's what the philosophy will be about," he added.

"It will be about playing attractive, attacking football full of imagination. For me the best thing about the game other than scoring goals is having the football, and that'll be the idea and the fundamentals we'll work on - but they are playing ultimately to win.

"We're in the business of winning and hopefully we can entertain along the way."

ses premieres "actions" se feront hors du terrain avec les transferts qu'il va réaliser. Esperons qu'il fasse les bons choix. J'en envie de dire qu'on a plus le droit de gaspiller de l'argent et que les joueurs qui doivent venir doivent pouvoir apporter ce qu'on leur demande, c'est-a-dire des performances au niveau des attentes suscitées. Ce que ni Carroll ni Henderson ni Downing n'ont réussi à faire (pour le moment!!). Mais Rodgers a aussi dit qu'il voulait enlever de la pression aux joueurs par rapport aux montants de leurs transferts, espérons qu'il y arrive (avec un Carroll surement booster par l'Euro, ca pourrait faire mâââââle !!)

c'est exact, s'il arrive à redonner la confiance à nos joueurs et à leur redonner la gnac, le stade va à nouveau vibrer.

Il va avoir du travail. C'est difficile d'imprimer sa marque sur une équipe.

Ca chance, c'est que Dalglish a imprimé du jeu collectif à son équipe. Son défi va surtout être de transformer cette fréquente domination stérile en efficacité et en buts.
